ABOUT
Est. with love & intention
A space where living well
becomes an everyday art
Hi, I’m Sara, and this is the kitchen where our family figures it all out together. My son has severe allergies, and like a lot of parents in that situation, I found myself standing in the grocery store completely overwhelmed, reading every label, second-guessing every ingredient, and realizing that most of the recipes I loved were suddenly off the table.
How it started
This blog was born out of necessity. When my son was diagnosed with severe allergies, cooking stopped being simple, every recipe needed to be rethought, every ingredient double-checked, and onion and garlic, the backbone of so many dishes, had to go completely.
What started as survival in the kitchen became a genuine love for figuring out how to make food taste incredible without the ingredients everyone says you need
What drives us
We believe good food shouldn’t come with compromise. A meal can be rich, comforting, and full of flavor without onion, garlic, or the allergens that make so many recipes off-limits for our family.
Every recipe here is tested in our own kitchen, for our own table, with our son in mind. It’s about finding what actually works, the right swap, the right spice, the right technique so cooking feels less like a restriction and more like a discovery.
So I started cooking differently. No onion. No garlic. No hidden allergens. Just real, vegetarian food that my whole family can actually sit down and enjoy together.
I’m not a professional chef. I don’t have culinary training or a fancy kitchen. What I have is a son who needs safe food, a family with opinions, and a lot of trial and error. Some recipes worked beautifully on the first try. Others took five attempts before we got it right. I share both.
My Kitchen My Home is where I document all of it, the recipes that became family favorites, the grocery finds that changed how we cook, and the honest truth about what works and what doesn’t when you’re building a kitchen around allergies and a plant-based lifestyle.
We’re exploring everything together, from which flour actually holds a muffin together without eggs, to which dairy-free cheese melts the way cheese is supposed to, to finding fresh vegetables that add the depth and flavor that onion and garlic used to bring.
If you’re cooking for a child with allergies, following a Jain or FODMAP diet, or just trying to figure out vegetarian cooking without those two ingredients everyone says are non-negotiable, you’re in the right place. Pull up a chair. We’re just getting started.
From the kitchen that feeds your family to the home that holds it all together, this is a space for the details that make life beautiful.
